Plastics and regranulation require control over particle size and consistent quality for further extrusion or compound production. Moisture, film versus rigid products, melting point and the degree of contamination in the stream determine which shredder and cutting system fit.

LRK – production waste and in-house recycling

For plastics processors and manufacturers who want to handle their own material, the UNTHA LRK is the first choice. The series is developed specifically for plastics: rotor cooling prevents heat-sensitive plastics from melting in the cutting chamber, and a hydraulic swing ram provides steady feeding without manual handling. Film, PET bottles, plastic drums, pipes and bumpers are shredded down to a consistent 15–40 mm fraction – ready for regranulation.

XR – large-scale and post-consumer

If you are processing larger volumes – baled post-consumer plastics, film or plastic-metal composites – the UNTHA XR does the heavy lifting before sorting and fine grinding. The slow-running single-shaft rotor tolerates contaminated streams and delivers capacity in tonnes per hour, not kilos.

RS – four-shaft for mixed fractions

Where the material stream is mixed or the pieces are large, the four-shaft RS shredders provide controlled size reduction in a single operation. Interchangeable screens determine the output fraction, and the machines handle everything from plastic packaging to dashboards and production waste.

Downstream processing

After shredding, washing, sorting and drying typically follow. We look at the entire material stream – not just the shredder – and connect you with suppliers and solutions for complete lines where needed.
